  1. Good podcast. Following your people’s advice I went on the pts and spent 94k for the smuggler’s tokens. Combined with the 5 free tokens that equated to 99 smuggler’s tokens. After burning through them I received a total of 3 golden certs and earned 45 kingpin rolls from the kingpin tickets I received exclusively through playing on the smuggler machines. I also got an easy 70 achievement points! Because I knew I was going to limit myself to spending only the 94k I only played one machine at a time. Moreover, I often found myself playing in first person view so I could witness the full majesty of the spin.

P.S.- with my 3 golden certs I purchased a pimp hat.

  2. Good data point! That’s not an unreasonable price then for what some of those rewards for certificates will end up costing. The only sticky point will be dealing with the .07%-.09% chance RNG for people trying to get the Rancor. That could end up being “very many” credits.

    1. Very true. I hope that my experience spells out exactly how important (even for the very wealthy) it really is to play the smuggler machines to proc kingpin tokens and the “feeling lucky” buff before engaging with the kingpin machines. Sema mentioned that she had spent ~8m? through direct purchase of kingpin tokens.
Time spent and special mount (rancor or black hotdog bun) chance aside, I received the same number of golden certs that she did having only spent 94k. The reason for this is perhaps there is a similar chance for golden certs from the smuggler’s machines? Of course through the relatively massive spending Sema certainly increased her chances (over my own) towards getting the special mounts.

For those who want the event’s golden cert gear pieces/items as well, I would suggest that only insanity would draw a player into spending directly on the kingpin tokens when 2.8 goes live.

P.S.- I’ve totally done that derpy muscle-memory thing when trying to connect to the pts as well. :*8(

      1. Oh, and I got 45 spins on the Kingpin machine through those Kingpin coins that I received through playing the smuggler’s machine. I don’t know exactly how many Kingpin coins this amounts to having received from the smuggler’s machine, but it proves that quite a few rolls on the Kingpin machine come from the Kingpin coins that are proc’d from the smuggler’s machine.
