This week @AIESema, @MaxTheGrey and Astromech EPC-58 follow up on the discussion in episode 57 about changing specs. In this case we talk about taking on those emergency roles on occasion while performing your main group role. Healers throwing out some DPS, DPS helping with some emergency healing, and DPS jumping in with some emergency tanking. We also cover news for the week from SWTOR in general and from our guild, Alea Iacta Est.
On Jedi Covenant, find Max playing as: Imperial (Max’z, Mhax, Mhaxs, Mhaxz) Republic (Maxz, Maxxz, M’axz) and Sema playing as: Imperial (Maurienne, Enne) Republic (Semaperdu). AIE guild information can be found at http://aie-guild.info/swtor

sorry for leaving a post here. I have tried to find any one in AIE on either the EMP or the PUB side so I can join. I have tried to register through the AIE-Guild.org but after I register I get an error when I log in. also I want the both of you to know that I love your pod cast and listen every week. by the way I was part of the Third Echelon on the Harbinger Server and transferred to Jedi Covenant three weeks ago.
Thanks for the feedback!
Best option in game is to /cjoin aielfo and see if an officer is around. There’s a handful of us that try to keep an eye out and are usually online in primetime hours in the evenings and in and out throughout the day. It will be mostly Imperial side this week and I should be on some tonight and most of the officers will be on Thursday for our Operations night and Friday for our open guild FP and GSF night.
See you online!
Hi Max and Sema. If DPS’ ing as a Healer, when is it worth switching stances? I wonder number of cooldowns of DPS are worth losing two cooldowns to switch stance and back again?
Interesting question. I don’t switch stances for throwing down any off-heals as a DPS merc. Let’s see what Sema has to say on the topic.
For sorc/sage and operative/scoundrel there is nothing that is analogous to switching cylinder/cell for the mercenary/commando, so it is not a question I face. I have not done enough mercenary healing to run into that choice yet. My uninformed feeling about it is, though, that you would not want to be a GCD away from being able to use whatever healing ability is the best for the situation if your group is doing anything that is at their level or is even a minor stretch for them. Like everything in healing, it is a judgment call. If you are in a group finder story mode ops and the group is sailing along, hell yeah, switch cells and go for it.
